Fine natural clothing made with exclusive fibers such as cashmere sets Garnet Hill apart. We have continually searched the world for inspiration, quality and uniqueness in our products.

A vast array of quality fibers throughout our natural clothing line adds an elegant fashion statement to your current attire.

Here are some of the natural fibers we use in our line:

Alpaca

A domesticated member of the camel family native to the Andes, the alpaca has hair that is extremely warm and insulating, similar to wool, but lighter and softer.

Boiled Wool

A woven or knitted fabric that has been compressed through heat and other processes. This rich, substantial felt is so closely interlocked that it is almost impossible to distinguish the weave. It has strong shape retention, and is extremely warm and water repellent.

Cashmere

The fine, soft underfleece of cashmere goat native to the Himalayas.

Lambswool

The first shearing of wool from lambs seven to nine months old. It is finer and softer than wool from full-grown sheep.

Mohair

A soft, long, lustrous fiber obtained from the Angora goat. The fluffy hair is springy and curly; it can be densely woven for warmth or loosely woven for breathability.

Pashmina

The softest form of cashmere, spun from the ultra-fine fibers gathered from the underbelly of the Himalayan mountain goat. (Not to be confused with Shatoosh, which is the wool of slaughtered Tibetan male antelopes.)

Shetland Wool

A springy, medium-textured wool originating from a breed of sheep on the Shetland Isles.

Wool

Wool is an animal protein fiber that is sheared from sheep. Wool-bearing domestic sheep are raised in almost every country of the world. There are hundreds of varieties and breeds, producing a wide range of fiber types, from ultra-soft to crisp, making wool one of the most versatile of animal fibers.

Cashmere is one of best sellers and below you will find a feature story that enhances the description listed above.

Cashmere Fiber Story

The most precious of natural fibers, cashmere is the fine, soft, downy fleece of the Cashmere goat, an animal that lives at altitudes of up to 16,000 feet. The Cashmere goat grows a dense undercoat to withstand its cold surroundings, though each animal yields only four ounces of hair annually. The cashmere is combed out by hand (never sheared), and then sorted by color and quality.

Despite being almost weightless, the cylindrical shape of the cashmere fiber has enormous insulating properties. But cashmere is renown for more than its wonderful warmth; it has a sensuous softness and a luxurious hand unparalleled by any other fabric on earth.

Cashmere is made into highly prized blankets, throws, sweaters, socks, coats, and other clothing.
